The Hyundai Creta EV is all set to make its debut in India by late 2025, as the brand expands its EV portfolio for mass-market buyers. The Creta EV will be based on the same platform as the current ICE Creta but heavily modified to accommodate an electric powertrain, battery pack, and EV-specific tech. It will rival the upcoming Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XUV.e8, and MG ZS EV, marking Hyundai’s strong entry into the electric mid-size SUV segment.
Familiar Design with EV Enhancements
While it retains the recognizable silhouette of the ICE Creta, the Creta EV will feature several EV-specific design cues such as a closed front grille, unique LED lighting pattern, aerodynamic alloy wheels, and possibly a redesigned bumper. Expect subtle blue accents, ‘Electric’ badging, and an aero-optimized rear diffuser to further distinguish it from its petrol and diesel siblings.
Powertrain, Range & Charging Capabilities
The Creta EV is expected to come with a single front-mounted electric motor producing around 136–150 PS of power, paired with a battery pack between 45–50 kWh. It is likely to offer a real-world range of 400–450 km per charge, making it suitable for both city driving and weekend getaways. Fast charging support via DC charger (up to 100 kW) could enable 10–80% charge in under 45 minutes, while a standard AC home charger would take around 6–7 hours.
Interior & Features: Premium Tech Experience
The cabin of the Creta EV will share much of its layout with the ICE Creta facelift but may feature a larger dual-screen setup, EV-specific UI, and ambient lighting. Hyundai is expected to offer features like a 360° camera, ventilated seats, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, panoramic sunroof, and ADAS Level 2 features including adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. The EV will run on the latest version of Hyundai’s connected car tech – Bluelink EV suite with live charging status, remote cooling, and trip planning.
Expected Price & India Launch Timeline
The Hyundai Creta EV is likely to launch in late 2025, with prices expected to start from ₹22 lakh to ₹26 lakh (ex-showroom). It will slot between the Kona EV and the upcoming entry-level Hyundai EVs, offering a perfect balance of size, performance, and tech. With Hyundai’s wide dealership and service network, the Creta EV could become one of the most accessible and desirable electric SUVs in the country.
