Kia EV5 Electric SUV Unveiled: Bold Design, 720 Km Range (CLTC), and ADAS Tech in a Mid-Size Package

Kia has officially unveiled the Kia EV5, a premium mid-size electric SUV that brings futuristic design, long range, and intelligent features to the family EV segment. Positioned below the flagship EV6, the EV5 adopts Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, featuring a bold, boxy silhouette with sharp lines, squared wheel arches, full-width LED lighting, and a high-tech yet robust road presence. Built on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP platform, the EV5 is designed for global markets including China, Korea, Europe, and expectedly India in 2025.

Interior Designed Like a Smart Lounge

Inside, the Kia EV5 features a minimalistic cabin inspired by modern living spaces, offering sustainable materials, ambient lighting, and ultra-flat surfaces. The dashboard includes a wide twin-screen layout with a 12.3-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch driver cluster, integrated seamlessly into one panel. The cabin layout supports a floating center console, hidden storage, and recliner-like seats with heating and ventilation. With generous legroom and premium textures, the EV5 delivers a lounge-like experience inside a family-sized SUV.

Battery, Range & Performance Options

Globally, the Kia EV5 is offered in Standard, Long Range, and AWD trims. The top-spec AWD version comes with an 88 kWh battery, delivering up to 720 km range (CLTC), and a dual-motor setup with around 313 PS of combined output. The standard version features a 64 kWh battery with 530+ km range, while the Long Range model gets an 88 kWh pack with single motor for over 650 km. The EV5 supports ultra-fast charging via Kia’s 800V architecture, allowing 30-80% charging in under 30 minutes.

Tech, Safety & ADAS Features

On the tech front, the Kia EV5 offers Level 2 ADAS features, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and autonomous emergency braking. It also includes wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, voice assistant, remote climate control, and Kia’s EV Route Planner. Other features include V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality, OTA updates, and climate-synced smart ambient lighting.

Expected Price and India Launch Timeline

The Kia EV5 is expected to launch in India by late 2025 or early 2026, with prices likely starting from ₹32 lakh to ₹38 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with upcoming EVs like the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Harrier EV, BYD Atto 3, and MG ZS EV Long Range. With its premium styling, tech-rich cabin, and long driving range, the EV5 could become a popular choice among Indian EV buyers looking for an upscale electric SUV under ₹40 lakh.
