New Rajdoot 350 Reimagined: Iconic Motorcycle Set to Return with Retro Styling & Modern Engine

The Rajdoot 350, one of India’s most iconic motorcycles of the 1980s, is reportedly set for a modern revival. Once known for its raw power, thumping exhaust note, and road-dominating presence, the Rajdoot is now rumored to return in 2025 under Yamaha’s guidance, paying tribute to its legendary RD 350 roots. Though not officially confirmed, industry insiders suggest that the new Rajdoot 350 will retain its classic design DNA while receiving a major technological and mechanical upgrade to suit modern-day riders and regulations.

Retro-Inspired Design with Modern Engineering

The upcoming Rajdoot 350 is expected to carry a retro roadster look, featuring a round LED headlamp, teardrop fuel tank, wide handlebars, and minimalistic body panels all reminiscent of the original model. However, unlike its old-school 2-stroke engine, the new version will likely be powered by a modern 349cc air/oil-cooled engine, potentially borrowed from Yamaha’s global platforms or co-developed in India. The motorcycle may include dual-channel ABS, disc brakes at both ends, a digital-analogue instrument cluster, and telescopic front forks for better comfort and control.

Performance to Rival Royal Enfield & Jawa

The Rajdoot 350 is expected to deliver performance figures similar to competitors like the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda CB350, and Jawa 42. It may produce around 20–22 bhp of power with 30 Nm of torque, offering a relaxed yet powerful riding experience, especially suited for highway cruising and long-distance rides. Its exhaust note, one of the Rajdoot’s most iconic traits, is likely to be tuned to deliver a deep, thumpy sound that appeals to nostalgic enthusiasts.

Expected Price and India Launch Timeline

While official pricing is yet to be announced, the new Rajdoot 350 is expected to launch in late 2025 or early 2026, priced around ₹2.0 to ₹2.2 lakh (ex-showroom). If Yamaha confirms the revival, the motorcycle could be positioned as a heritage model for both vintage lovers and new-age riders seeking a blend of style and reliability.
