Tata Nano Electric (EV) Coming Soon: Iconic City Car Reborn with 250Km Range, Ziptron Tech & Under ₹6 Lakh Price Tag

Tata Motors is all set to revive the legendary Tata Nano, this time as an affordable electric vehicle for India’s fast-growing EV market. Once the country’s most economical petrol hatchback, the new Tata Nano Electric is being reimagined for the electric era, aimed at urban commuters, fleet operators, and budget buyers. Expected to launch by late 2025, the Nano EV will join Tata’s expanding EV lineup alongside the Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV but at a price point that makes it India’s most accessible electric car.

Modern Compact Design with Urban Focus

The Tata Nano Electric will retain its compact, city-friendly design but with a modern twist. Expect sleeker LED headlamps, a closed-off EV grille, new alloy wheels, reprofiled bumpers, and refreshed interiors with a minimalist digital dashboard. The cabin is likely to feature a touchscreen infotainment unit, power windows, connected car features (in top variants), and dual-tone interior themes. The updated Nano EV will prioritize simplicity, agility, and easy maneuverability perfect for India’s crowded city streets.

Ziptron-Based Battery, 250Km Range & Fast Charging

Built on a modified version of Tata’s Ziptron EV architecture, the Nano EV is expected to get a 19–21 kWh LFP battery pack, similar to the Tiago EV base variant. This setup could offer a real-world range of 220–250 km per charge, making it ideal for daily commuting. The car will support both standard AC home charging and DC fast charging, offering flexibility to all types of users. Charging from 10% to 80% via a fast charger may take just under 60 minutes.

Smart Features with a Focus on Affordability

Tata may offer multiple variants including basic fleet-friendly trims and higher-end personal-use trims. Key features expected include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse camera, regenerative braking, and remote charging control via app in top variants. The infotainment system may support Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, while the dashboard could feature a semi-digital or fully digital display, depending on the variant.

Tata Nano EV Price & Launch Timeline

The Tata Nano Electric is expected to launch in late 2025, with prices starting around ₹4.5 lakh for base variants and going up to ₹6 lakh (ex-showroom) for fully loaded trims. Once launched, it will directly rival the MG Comet EV, PMV EaS-E, and possibly the upcoming Maruti Suzuki electric hatch in the ultra-affordable EV space. With its legendary brand recall, practical size, and Tata’s growing EV infrastructure, the Nano EV could once again become the car of the people this time electric.
